Moss is always one of my favourite features of nature and I wanted a picture to encapsulate the freshness of it. This vividly blue stream sat off to the side of Skogafoss. While crowds of tourists flocked around the main waterfall, I took in this quiet unassuming patch of green. The soft mist and black pebbles further create a dark mood that encourages the vibrancy of the moss stand out in this image. I decided to place myself in this scene with my back to the camera to maintain anonymity and draw attention to the mossy knoll I’m looking at in all of its shades of green. Moreover, because this is a Gothic landscape collection, any self-placement is to emphasize the contrast and darkness of the scene. As the viewer I invite you to place yourself in this photo standing ankle deep in the crisp blue water with black sand between your toes. Take a moment of meditation and imagine the experience of this environment. Allow yourself to feel this imagery connect with your senses.
